Hi-
I've decided the poor audio with vonage is enough to make me want to cancel my subscription and go back to a telus landline.
I've attempted to call the 3 different numbers I was given and so far have been unable to get through to anyone. (it's the old 25 min. that turns into 1 hr. waiting on hold)
What have others done to expediate this cancellation of service problem? Registered letter to headoffice then cancel visa withdrawls to vonage?
Help would be appreciated, and hopefully before the 30 day unconditional money back guarantee. |

Don't worry about canceling with Vonagae directly. Just go back to your landline provider and they will look after the cancellation and transferfor you, just like Vonage does when you transfer over from the landline company.
Hope that helps. |

THIS IS INCORRECT. Vonage specifically states that a 3rd party cannot cancel the account. The account administrator must call and verbally cancel the account WITH an account manager. Direct line to Account Management is 1800-860-5491. They are open Monday through Friday 8:30am to 9:00pm EST.
To the OP, unfortunately the only way to cancel the account is to call into Account Management. Faxing, emailing, writing, etc will not work. They will be ignored, as well as sending your box back on your own with a written note. They go to a separate shipping department in another state. |

Oh well excuse me. I thought they followed the same business practices as other reputable businesses - kind of like the way they handled they look after the cancellation of the landline service providers.
Sneaky little buggers.
Thank you for posting the number. |

No problem. I answered your other post.
Yes, apparently VoIP providers are a little different. In fact, even porting your number away from Vonage isn't very straightforward. You must do it the correct way, otherwise it'll never get done. Make sure you cancel the account AFTER the port out has completed as well. |

Oh my gosh - what the heck does "porting my number away from Vonage" mean?
You seem to know a lot about this (no surprise - the forum is quite sophisticated.) Do you have an opinion regarding the use of mobile phones with this system (with multiple handsets - if I can find one like that) vs the use of wireless jacks? I was reading something about them on this site earlier. Would they work for someone like me who is not going to tamper with the landlines and if so, which one would be better?
Re: my numbers. Yes, I find the connection to shaw to be good. When I ran that test I had two internet browsers open. Not sure if it would affect the results of the test or not. Just an FYI.
Thanks for answering my other post. |

Porting your number away means just the opposite of bring your number into Vonage. You port your own number in, and when you want out of Vonage, you port it back out to another provider (if you so choose).
Yes, I would highly recommend the use of the "satellite" phone systems if you don't want to tamper with home wiring issues. Nowadays they are quite inexpensive. My 2 handset one from many years ago was only $40 and it still works great.
I sent you a PM. |

Thanks for the advice (re: the static/echo and having the ports changed by Vonage) and the mobile phones. I will see if I can get this all set up by tomorrow and then post the results.
Keeping my fingers crossed. |
