Hi all- new to the forums here. I will spell out the entire problem as I've seemed to make every wrong move so far...
My goal is to set up Vonage and use it to dial into DirecTV Tivo. I bought a Phonex wireless phone jack so I can plug my Tivo into it. I am hoping it will receive the signal from my computer (computer is upstairs, Tivo is downstairs), however, first things first.
I stupidly purchased a Vtech 5.8 router that does not use a phone cord. (I can't believe vtech does not make a wireless phone jack of some sort to use w Tivo.)
Realizing my error I took out my old Linksys router I had with my last Vonage accoun. It is a Linksys RT3P... I cannot for the life of me get the phone lights to come on. I tried rebooting the DSL modem and router 3-4 times in accordance with the manual and TS guide with no success. Still no lights and the phone is not getting a tone. I wanted to try out this router to see if the wireless phone jack will work before I tried purchasing any new equipment.
So I guess my questions are: 1) Does anyone know of running into problems switching routers with the same service? I would think that isn't a problem. Any known issues with not getting a phone light?
2) Any suggestions for routers that will work with my setup?
I have Verizon DSL without a local phone service. Lots of issues please help. Thank you. |

Call or email Vonage with the MAC address to your router and have them register your router. |

Just so. Your phone adapter won't work without being registered as the working device for an active account. Be prepared for the possibility, however, that Vonage will not activate a device that has previously been used with them. Usually they won't. If the old account was yours they may make an exception, but... |

if you have disconnected your service with Vonage completely.then your device will also be disconnected.so make sure that there is no device in your account.if there is no device.just go to vonage.com website. There you will see the retail activation.click on it.from there it will ask for MAC address.try to register that mac address once you do it.you can use the existing linksys router. |

The online registration didn't work for me for a new router that was sent to me from Vonage. So if it doesn't work email or phone them. |

Actually, I wouldn't bother with Email. Their phone support is bad, but their Email support is non-existent, unless things have improved a lot in the past few months. |
