I had lately send the Vaonage adapter to India (the one which was working fine in US).
we have BSNL DSL (256 KB) connection.
We tried hooking the adapter as
BSNL Modem --> Vonage Adapter (Linksys RT31P2) --> PC and Phone on respective ports.
After we powered it on..it had blinking lightsfor sometime and then the ethernet light became solid where as the internet light was blinking.
Neither Internet nor Phone works. (Internet works fine if I connect it directly through BSNL Modem)
We tried going to the http://192.168.15.1 to change the settings but it does notlet us go there either.
Can anyone suggest the wayout? |

There are other threads about getting Vonage to work with BSNL in India. You may want to do a search and read about them.
In the meanwhile, check out the internet settings on your computer. Presumably, it's set up to work with BSNL, since you report no trouble there. Since you're unable to get to the the RT31P2 administration page, that indicates that those settings are incompatible with the current settings in the RT31P2 for its clients. In general, the router- RT31P2- needs to be set up to work with your ISP, and your computer needs to be set up to work with your router. It would appear that neither of those conditions is being met at the moment. |

I'm afraid not. I always struggle with finding things in Windows myself. I just muddle through each time. My point was that once you find them, the settings that you see and which you know are working can give you clues about what your ISP requires. |

Iam sorry to say you are wrong.
My wife is in Baroda, Gujarat and i got installed Vonage adaptor RTP300 there. The ISP is VSNL. It is working great since last 5 months.
We have atleast 6 Vonage adaptors workin in our office in India since last couple of years without any problem.
I think there are many such users in India who use Vonage. |

hi, Vonage works great in India. Since you are using BSNL, it has pppoe configuration. That is you need to enter the router page with 192.168.15.1 and under setup you need to select pppoe in connection type and give the user name and passwd provided by your internet service provider(BSNL). If you are not able to enter the router page, check the ip in pc and also disable the firewals, spywares and antivirus in the pc. Then surely you will be able to enter the router page. once you do the configuration your Vonage phone is ready to use. THERE IS NO VIRTUAL NUMBER FOR INDIA. |

I just send my motorola VT2442 router over to India , I have Sify (DSL) internet but could not get it to work i read a lot of info with people getting RTP 300 working with Sify I followed the following steps
1) Note IP and DNS settings from the cmd prompt
2) Go to 192.168.15.1 to configure the router and chhose STATIC IP options and enter the ones given by Sify in Ip settings and DNS gateway 1
3) Enable DHCP by setting Obtain IP automatically
4) Tried to ping Sify gateway still, didnt work tried shutting it off and then restarting it still didnt work ,
Is there any other thing i can do
Please help |

Make sure that sify gave you public ip address. If you are having static ip then select static ip in the router page not DHCP. If you have username and passwd then use pppoe. Vt2442 is a very good device similar to rtp300.It works great |

Hello there,
I want to subscribe to Vonage Service in India (MP). I have BSNL Boroadband Service with upload speed of 72.9 Kbps It is mentioned on the Vonage Website that the minimum upload speed required is 90 Kbps. Did anyone face the same problem with BSNL Broadband Service. I am confused whether I should subscribe for Vonage if the upload speed is less than the required speed?? |

Voip service is utterly dependent on the quality of your internet service. Subscribing to Vonage with inadequate internet service is, in my opinion, a poor idea. That said, a test run at www.testyourvoip.com can give you an idea of the quality of service that you might expect.
Also, you should be aware that Vonage does not accept customers outside the US (but they do have separate operations in other places), and it's technically against the terms of service to use Vonage outside the US. The postings you see in here are from people who arranged for their service in the US and then took it to India. |
