Make sure that sify gave you public ip address. If you are having static ip then select static ip in the router page not DHCP. If you have username and passwd then use pppoe. Vt2442 is a very good device similar to rtp300.It works great

I have MTNL connection which provided a Huawei ADSL modem which works on a specified IP address.I have a Vonage VT2442 modem and a Laptop.
When I connect my Laptop and DLS modem internet works fine only when I specify the IP address as IP 192.168.1.2 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
Preffred DNS 203.94.227.70 Alternate DNS 203.94.243.70
When I connect the Laptop,DSL modem and VT2442 then with the static IP address the Vonage page http://192.168.15.1/ does not open at all.Only if I remove the IP's and make it dynamic then my Vonage login opens.After I log in and proceed as per the instructions provided,while doing the WAN configuration it never gets connected,when i click on connect button.and hence the Restart of the voice gateway also never happens,so neither my internet works nor the phone line works.
I am really getting frustated as my DSL providers are also not able to help me and I am trying this now for a long time,days.....
I am waiting for your help,as I am sure u have comeacross all these.
