Post subject: WRT54GL and Imcoming calls problem
My problem seems kind of unique but Im gonna put it out there anyway. The problem I have had ever since I got the WRT54GL (let me tell you it is 10x better than the BEFSR41 v.3 I had before this) but I before I tell you the problem Ill tell you the setup: I have internet going into a AMbit modem (old) then from their into the Motorola v1005 (i think) and then from there to my WRT54GL loaded with
DD-WRT v. 23
. I had some problems with the routers DHCP server messing up but soon click "Use DNSMasq" and it works fine now, knock on wood. But getting to the main problem at hand is sometimes (not all the time but usually in groups) the incoming calls ring and when I pick up I hear
silence
not a dial tone like other people but just silence like no one is speaking on the other line. I know for a fact that these arent prank calls or anything. To fix this problem as of now I am having to see whos calling on caller id and call them back. Thanks for your help guys
PS: I have QoS set for the MAC address of my
Vonage
box but its before the modem so does that not work?

read and follow this thread

and then take the motorola and plug it into the wrt54gl and put the wrt where the motorola was. it may not solve this particular problem but it's a much better way of doing things. posting the info from the link above will help us solve the other problem.

I live in Washington and using Comcast ISP and I would set it up like you said but all my ports on the back of my router are full up.
