phonebook listing of ported number

I ported my number from bellsouth to Vonage in December of 2004. Everything went fine. I checked the box on the form to retain the directory listing in the phone book. Now I have moved and the phone book still shows my old address. I have called Bellsouth - who publishes the white pages. They show that my number is being listed by Hyperion Telecommunications. I called them and they do not see that my number is listed. I explained the above to customer service and he said that they do the transfers to Vonage so that must be why they are showing thier name instead of Vonage. I contacted Vonage and they said that they do not list numbers and for me to call Bellsouth. Help! Any ideas on how to get this removed?

I had major headaches getting my number transferred to Vonage. On Friday my business number was disconnected and Verizon informed me it was ported to Hyperion. Through my attempts to fix this problem, I learned that Hyperion has been out of business for several years and is now called Telcove. They are located in Coudersport, PA and provide strictly business phone service. Vonage is a customer of theirs. They hold the number and Vonage resells the service to you. They have fabulous customer service and even though I was not their customer, they bent over backwards to help me get my phone number working. They worked with Vonage to rectify the problem. Vonage seems to have major problems communicating with the companies they subcontract these things to. They even subcontract the actual process of porting the number. Hope this helps to shed some light on your problem, even though it is slightly different than mine was.
