OK, so my initial impression of Vonage is not the best! In fact, I'm extremely disappointed. But, here is my dilemma...I have one main number in VIrginia and a virtual number in Utah. My wife works remotely for a company based in Utah and has her work phone extension forwarded to the virtual number. When it rings through to Virginia it either has extremely poor quality or the calls are dropped. I'm a network engineer and have already gone through all the initial troubleshooting steps I can think of, as well as sat for hours on the phone with their first tier support. I was actually put on hold for the "advanced" support but they hung up (or I lost connection) and all subsequent calls to support won't forward me back to "advanced" support. They always want to walk me through their ridiculous ping tests, etc first.

The only thing I can attribute to this problem is a possible issue with her company's PBX forwarding the incoming call. But, if I call the Utah number for it to roll over it always works fine. It only seems to be her customers that are calling in that get horrible connections....but, what **** is that it is ALL of them that are getting the horrible connection.

Anyone see this before? I'm giving Vonage one more week and then I'm finished with them. Is there anyone at Vonage that can speak to me intelligently about this issue instead of walking me through a script each time only to tell me, "I made changes on the server for the packet size. You won't have a problem again." Of course, THAT never works!

Almost forgot.....I have an IP8100 Vtech Vonage system directly connected to a Motorola Surfoard SB5120. I'm on Adelphia "high-speed" with a consistent download speed of about 4.8 to 5.5Mbps and an upload ranging from 400 to 600 kbps. My test on Brix ranged right around the "better than an average cell call" and "just like calling from next door." I believe it was 3.9.

it looks like you made some effort to post the information requested in the sticky, but not all of it. offhand you're obviously missing the detailed test results, which is usually the most important thing in that whole list. yes there is a reason DETAILED is capitalized in the sticky.
also, you mention problems with the virtual number only. are there problems with the other number as well? you should have the exact same problems with either line, particularly if the call originates from the same area. if it doesn't, I suppose there's a chance your quality could vary.
