Just got off the phone with a very tired, or bored technician, at customer support. She told me that they do not transmit your name to the other person's CID box, when you place a call, because all Vonage numbers are private (un-listed). I said they are full of crap and that it worked before. I know for a fact it worked until recently because I use my phone for my business and all of my clients have commented that it only shows the number and not the name. Are there any secret settings that we can change on our adapters or any words that we can express to have this fixed? Maybe a piece of firmware????? This stinks. |

you can say they're full of crap all you want, but that's true, as far as it goes. and as far as it goes is your name won't show up on other people's caller id except for a few days after you transfer your number from your original phone company (assuming they supported this, which traditional ones do obviously). but the reason why is more like this: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,11327439 |

And you know this for sure? Then how does an outbound callerd id name show when a number has not been ported yet? No LOA has been issued but Vonage gives you the Virtual number with a promise that you will port the number. My caller ID with outbound name worked untill I had the number actually ported. The name ended the day the port was done. |

I agree with sanannbass, My caller ID for outbound calls gave my name untill a month ago . They tell me (Customer service) that Vonage does not support outbound caller id with name. Well then how is it that my name showed up on another landline Caller Id Box untill recently. It worked fine untill I decided to port the number |
