I just recently signed up with Vonage and have a problem that is reoccurring more and more frequently. First, here’s my set-up
• High Speed Internet – 6 Mbps down/ 384 Kbps up • vTech IP8100-2 phones • Fast computer with PLENTY of ram • Home phone number was changed from Qwest to Vonage well over a week ago.
Now here’s my problem(s):
• Incoming callers frequently get “All circuits are busy” recordings. • Incoming callers hear the ringing tone without anyone apparently answering. Meanwhile, we have answered the phone and only have silence. Remember, this is while the caller IS STILL HEARING THE RINGING TONE! (I confirmed this from work while both my wife (at home) and I were on our cell phones trying this out). These calls show up on my call activity/dashboard on-line as being answered. • Incoming calls are forwarded randomly to my cell phone number (which was a temporary call forwarding set up over a week ago) even when no one is one the phone.
So does/has anyone else had these problems and/or know of a solution? As I write this I’m on perpetual hold (22 minutes so far) waiting for customer service (Tech support was no help). I will be asking for a free additional local virtual number as an alternative to see if it also has the same problem. If it doesn’t have any of these problems I’ll assume it has something to do with the switch of phone numbers, go through the pain of telling everyone to use the other number, and “disconnect” my original number.
Thanks |

you are not alone. I am with Vonage for more than 1 yr now. I am also having the same problem. I have already called techies at Vonage 3 times. My router has been put in diagnosis mode and i still have problem. Will call them tonight to find out how the diagnosis went and update results. |

Yep same here...it's like calling my wife's cell phone "all circuits are busy" message when calling my home Vonage number.
Also, sometimes the voice mail will not pick up when calling my home...it just rings and rings... and when dialing *123 to access my voice mail from home I typically have to do this 2-4 times for the call to go thru... |

I have the same problems here in Massachusetts. Been a Vonage customer for just a couple of weeks. We don't use our land line that much, but out or say 50 incoming calls 10 have had some sort of connect problem were we on the receiving end never heard the inbound caller. The caller reports hearing us but they figure it out soon enough that we can't hear them so they hang up and call back.
We've yet to get reports from people that they get recorded messages, etc.
I'm almost happy to hear this is a newly occurring problem. Maybe it is the result of a recent change they can go fix as opposed to just something we're suppose to get use to for cheap phone service. |

I called Vonage customer care and was on phone with them for 1 and half hour. The problem was escalated to 2nd level tech. Since i noted down what time i had problem, the Vonage tech was able to find that in their logs and he said that it was zeroed out (don't know what that means exactly). But he said that he was able to see problem. He has moved my account to a different server and resync my account/modem. The tech was very much confident that the problem should be resolved now. I will update the results tomorrow whether i m still having the problem. |

I had this problem many a times too. Found out it only happened when i used my 2.4Ghz phone. It must have been interfearing with my wireless router. But I have 2 of those type phones, the panasonic one didn't work and the other one did.
be aware. |

I am also experiencing similar problems. The caller either gets a busy signal, a recorded message that I am not accepting calls, an "all circuits are busy" message, or some other problem. The calls seem to complete correctly about 1 in 3 times.
Interestingly, I have a second phone number on the same Linksys PAP2 and it doesn't have any of these problems. In fact, I can call from the good number to the other number and the call won't go through with one of these symptoms. This certainly eliminates the majority of networking problems as the cause.
Tomorrow I will call Vonage tech support. |

I too have been having a whole mess of issues with incoming calls. Such as busy signals, recorded messages, ring once and stop, ring once and disconnect, no caller id showing up. Just got off the phone with tech support and they know of incoming call issues and he said it will be taken care of in 24 hrs (5/16/06 09:00) this is after telling me it was my wiring in my home and I needed to get an electrician in. because of my wifes work and mine we can only miss so many calls and I am giving them to the end of the week Sometimes you have to call 3 or more times before you can get through. |
