I have been having the same problems as all of you for the past month and have spent about 1 hour daily with Vonage trying to resolve this....Yesterday the US based tech support explained that Vonage could not handle upload greater than 856. I have 1.5 Mbps but was dropping to about 116 when I had my Vonage box. They mentioned other customers with similar uploads had the same issue. He said he was changing things on my account but today about 4 in 5 calls dropped so my issue is still not resolved. I called again and they made me change my bandwith. Just have to wait and see if it resolves the pb within 24 hours....So far I just feel like they cannot resolve my issue and that they are just making me change small things which will not resolve the pb...thus buying themselves another 24 hours. Vonage...I am at the end of my rope.
If anyone can help, here is my set up info: 1/ San Francisco Bay area 2/ Astound Broadband cable 3/ Download: 6 Mbps, upload: 1.4 Mbps 4/ Webstar scientific atlanta: DPC2100 series 5/ Linksys RT31P2 6/modem ==> linksys Vonage box ==> Belkin Pre-N wireless router 7/ dropped calls, "all lines are busy recording" is heard by callers or my line rings busy when they call. I have no outgoing calls issue. but only 1 in 5 calls makes it. 8/ results of test: http://www.testyourvoip.com/details.html?id=PR98B4
Thank you, in advance, for anyone who can help |

Those numbers refer to your download speed, right? The reason people score so high on that test is because it takes bursting into account. |
Actually no, those are my upload speeds. My internet rocks. I have 10mbs up and down. For another $50 per month I could have 100 but I can't figure out how to actually justify that to my partner. The bursting comment is interesting, particularly in combination with the subsequent post about Vonage having trouble with fast uploads. Of all things, could it be that my network is too good?
At the end of my call to Vonage support yesterday I was told that they are having problems in WA and CA. I'm in WA. Today it's really bad. I can't call the office from either my cell or my home phone. Considering we spend about $1000/month on yellow page ads, we've decided to go back to qwest. Intermittent phone service is completely non-optional -- the phone is our lifeblood and it isn't worth saving $100/month if we can't rely on it. I'm not trying to sound bitter or anything -- it's just a necessary business decision. |

I have been a Vonage user for three months. Over the past few days (early - mid May) I experience nothing when I answer some calls. I can see the call coming in on my caller i.d. display but when I answer it (5.8 Gh Panasonic phone) but when I answer I hear nothing. I have called my Vonage number using my cell phone and often I get "all circuits are busy" messages.
I see on this forum that a lot of people have this problem. Does anyone at Vonage who is reading all these complaints want to post an answer or a solution to the problem.
My GUESS is that the Vonage system is overloaded and can't handle the traffic.

I talked to Vonage tech support in the US today and the technician was very helpful. He called me and noticed none of his calls to me were coming through on a public switch but he had no problems getting through to me from a Vonage phone. He lowered my bandwith (India made me max it yesterday ) and dropped my packets. Results: out of 10 calls, only one dropped, versus 9 in 10 dropping before. We are giving it another 24 hours to make sure this does not happen again If anyone has another fix, please share with us Thank you |

ISP Comcast High Speed Data Router ~ Linksys WGRTP54G
There are no problems with my ISP and the router looks great yet for the last week I've been loosing 90% of incomming calls.
Senerio 1 ~ The phone rings, I answer and can't hear anybody and hang up and then find a voicemail with an on-line check.
Senerio 2 ~ The phone does not ring and the call transfers to the alternate number.
We have had one problem after another for the year of Vonage service with no technical support with the exception of the knowledgable people on this forum.
This is totally unacceptable for a phone service provider.
I have been trying to port one of my numbers to Comcast Digital Voice in order to do a side-by-side test for over 3-weeks with Vonage dragging their feet every step of the way. Camcast has finished the provisioning and the third-party verification but had to re-schedule the install 3-times so far. |

Problems still persist and seem to be "world wide" as well. My Daughter just started up with Vonage and has also had the problem. She has a stateside number but lives in the Netherlands. The problem certainly is sporadic bust does seem to be between 0800 and 1300, M-F Pacific. That probably would support one persons theory that Vonage may be growing to fast for their existing network. Have twisted Vonage’s arm for an additional virtual number (“free” for 30 days) which so far seems to be the temp solution to not getting through on the original number.
Please keep posting and/or updating so we can at least go to tech support with plenty of ammo!
Thanks All! |

I have the same problems as everyone else. Was also told it was related to call issues with CA and WA. Of course I'm in CA and have a WA number, lucky me. The weird thing is I have two routers, one for my business line and the other for my home line. My business line has a WA number (425) and that is the line I have the trouble on. My home line is a CA number (310) and I have no problems with that one at all. The tech said I could try changing the number and that might help. |
