PostPosted: Fri May 28, 2004 6:06 pm    Post subject: Shutting Down the Internal Firewall Reply with quote Back to top

Hey All,

I'm trying to get my VT1000 internal firewall shut down. I have 2 firewalls installed on my computer and I want to use those alone to control port access.

I've tried setting up a virtual server in the advanced config., still blocked. I even set up the dmz but with no luck. My system still shows complete stealth on all ports.

I need to be able to control this so I want to just kill it. Need some tips.

Thanks a bunch.

Like I said I have 2 administerable firewalls, that's not the problem. The problem is I need to allow outside computers access to my computer through this unit. I have a remote network that needs access to files here on my computer.

No matter how I set it, it stills shows complete stealth.

I have the DMZ wide open right now and I still get complete stealth according to ShieldsUp!

How do I get this thing configured right?

Thanks.

So I can't get any incoming traffic at all?

I guess I'm not understanding correctly. What are the Virtual Server settings for if not to allow incoming traffic?

Sorry but this is fairly new to me and I have a fairly large network of distributors that need access, so I have to find a solution or abandon the broadband phone altogether.

Thanks again.

Well, I have to say that ****. So the only way around this is to manually disconnect it, turn on my firewall and then connect to my remote network? Then hook it back up once I'm finished?

That's not going to cut it. What about the Cisco ATA will that allow me to route through?

Thanks.

I know that this probily sounds stupid but could you just hook up the Moto Box off of one of your router ports and hook your computer to another port. That way you would not have to go through your MTA and you could manage your ports with your routers. The only thing that you would loose is your MTA's QoS function.

I don't have a router, but that sounds like a viable option to me. It would probably be worth the 60 bucks to go get one.

Thanks for the suggestion. And thanks for all the help with my questions.

Moto, what if he turns off DHCP/NAT on the Moto to put it in pass-through mode?
