I was told that there is a $10 fee for changing your service status. This is a bit absurd, but if that is the case, I will just terminate my service next month when my commitment has been fulfilled. I cannot deal with the horrible dialect differences, and most of the time I have to have the person at Vonage repeat things two or three time before I can understand what they are saying. Good grief, can't Vonage realize that they are not helping existing customers with this? |

Not sure what the one has to do with the other...
Since I wasn't using more than 500 minutes anyway, I figured the $10 charge for dropping from unlimited to 500 minutes was just paid for from the first month's savings. Likewise if I go back up to unlimited it will be paid from the savings from my final month on the $15 plan. Even on the unlimited plan I would save $8+ per month from what VZW charged me before taking any long distance into account.
I tend not to make use of Customer Service anyway, so that part didn't make much difference to me.
Sorry it didn't work out. So are you going back to a regular landline? |

I don't know mate. Pretty near everyone charges service fee's for service. A one time $10 buck fee doesn't seem exorbitant to me. Also without a service fee folk would forever be changing their setup just for drill. You'll save the $10 bucks on the first month after changing to the 500 minute plan. Terminating Vonage because of a $10 buck charge to change your plan seem a bit like shooting yourself in the foot just to prove the gun is loaded. Also it will probably cost you more to terminate Vonage then $10.00

Actually, I plan on dropping Vonage. I just wanted to drop down to the 500 minute plan for my last month, but since they want $10 to do that, screw them -- I will go ahead and just cancel at the end of next month. It would cost me $25 either way, so I may as well use the unlimited calls. |

I agree that the $10 fee to do...pretty much anything at all is way out of line. it was one of several things that made me dislike vonage. they seem to be much more ma bell and much less cheaper alternative. |

$10 fee seems fair to me.
It would be a costly time consuming and administrative nightmare for Vonage if people were to switch back and forth every other month. |

1st - why would anyone do that?
2nd - unless Vonage has a bunch of people writing in ledger books, it would be a simple flipping of a bit flag in a database. |

Okay, but I think what we all want to know is are you going back to a landline, because that would be a huge waste of money. Seems to me that what really has you pissed off is that you got someone at customer support who you had trouble communicating with. Unfortunately, these day unless you actually live in India that will be a frequent problem. If that's your complaint, express it to Vonage, don't hide it behind a $10 fee. |
