PostPosted: Mon May 08, 2006 9:11 am    Post subject: Motorola VT2442 - Voice Mail Indicator Working? Reply with quote Back to top

The manual for the Motorola VT2442 adapter claims the phone led will "blink orange" when there is voice mail. Mine just stays solid green.

If you have a VT2442, does your LED blink orange when you have voice mail? I sent an email into Vonage asking this some 5 to 7 days ago and have not heard from them. I figured maybe someone here could fill in a blank or two.

Thanks,

-Bill

Bump...

So am I the only one having this problem, or do other VT2442 users not care about the Vmail indicator?!?!?!

I don't really care to notice. I mean the stutter dial tone, email notification, and phone display notification is enough for me. My motorola phone displays "New voicemail" on the screen when I have new voicemail. I thought that was really interesting, I never knew phones could do that and seems like a random feature that works on the adapter.

I have the VT2442 but I don't have the voice mail activated. To me it's much easier and faster to just push the play button on my answering machine if I have a message.

It would be interesting to know the answer to Booma's question. I don't suppose you'd like to temporarily enable voicemail and leave yourself a message to find out?

Sure. I'll give it a try. As soon as my roomate gets off the phone. <g> He stays on forever now that we have Vonage.

Booma,

I set up my voice mail and left myself a message. I don't get a light on the VT2442 either. I do get the stutter tone when I pick up the phone to let me know I have a voice mail, but no light.
One thing I do notice is that the manual that I received with my VT2442 shows 2 lights on the far right of the adapter. One for power and one for status My VT2442 only has a power light. Do you have 2 lights?

Bob,

Thanks for giving that a try. I only have one light as well. This picture is a clip from the manual that is on the CD that came with adapter. If it didn't say it was suppose to blink orange when there's an voice mail I probably wouldn't care, but because it does I now think...what a great idea...so why doesn't my light blink?!?!?!

Oh well, it's certainly not worth a 30 minute call to Customer Service...

-Bill

Hmm ,weird. And this picture is from the actual Vonage help site under VT2442 lights. Clearly 2 lights on the right. Maybe there are 2 revisions of this adapter? Sorry I couldn't figure out how to post the picture but below is the web page where you can see the picture.

Here's the picture:

I guess it's not unusual that there would be more than one version of the adapter out there. These things change more often than I change my socks. I'm wondering what the status light does.

Maybe I'll go see if I can find out...

Still doesn't answer the issue I raised. The Phone indicator light is suppose to blink orange when there is a voice mail. I sent an email request to customer service about this over a week ago and haven't received any word back...
