Post subject: UTStarcom F1000, Wifi & M$ Small Business Server Firewal
Hi There,
I have a UTStarcom F1000 and I am having problems "Registering" my phone. It connects to the local Wifi with no problem and then stops saying "Registering.."
I am pretty sure this is to do with the firewall we have in work.
Does anyone know what ports and protocols have to be allowed through the firewall to make the phone work please?
Thanks
Trev

Most SIP providers use Port 5060. I believe that
Vonage
uses 5061 for SIP registration. If you open just 5061, then the phone should register and will ring the phone on the other end, but you would have no audio unless you also open RTP ports. RTP is negotiated call by call and is normally between 10000 and 20000.
It would likely be best to get an access point installed outside the firewall for
Voip
use.
