Post subject: Porting from Lingo - what can I expect?
Hi!
After 2 pretty good years with Lingo I've switched away from them to
Vonage
. Primary reason is that my line went down 5 days ago and I've literally spent about 6 hours on hold trying to reach customer support without any luck. Emails to support have been unanswered for 5 days. I can't put my family at risk without 911 service any longer.
So the question is, has anyone switched from Lingo? How long does it take? I read terms of service (TOS) on the Lingo site and it tells you that if you cancel your account before it's transferred you will lose the number. I've also been told since they are not FCC regulated they have no timeframe to complete the transfer. For me, I can see them milking this for a few more monthly service charges on my card. Any thoughts?
I've been on hold as long as 75 minutes without getting a phone picked up. Their TOS state the ONLY way to cancel is to call customer support - which they don't answer. Any other way to get out of this nightmare?
Thanks!
Miami
PS I realize
Vonage
will not be perfect but while on hold with Lingo for 52 minutes Friday night, I thought I'd test
Vonage
so I called them, picked a few menu options, the phone rang and someone (in India) picked up and said "Hello". At that point I glanced over to my other cellphone and saw 46 minutes on hold and still counting".
