I never have problems hearing callers, but they sometimes cannot hear me for as little as a second or two to longer. This happens on all of my phones, both corded and cordless. It's the same whether they call me or I call them.

I've replaced all applicable cables just in case there was a problem there, but it didn't help. Rebooting everything in the system doesn't help either. Plugging a phone directly into the adapter doesn't improve matters.

Thanks for any help.

Larc, I too would be interested in the answer to your inquiry. I am experiencing very similar problems. From time to time, I experience dead periods where I can hear the other party but they can not hear me (anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds but seems longer). It happens on corded and cordless phones. I have tried the band-width saver in hopes that lowering my band-width usage would solve the problem but it has not. I use TimeWarner cable but their upload and download speeds are well within the required limits. I can't remember when the dead-outs began. I've been using Vonage for a little over a year and I think this problem started to occur about 6 months ago but I can't be sure. regards Jim

Larc, is this at any time during the conversation or only on the initial connection? Unfortunately this kind of short delay on the initial exchange is not uncommon. I don't know about the PAP2 in particular, but the RTP300 had it pretty badly for awhile. Firmware changes corrected it to a large extent, but it's still noticeable on mine at times. You can call customer service and see if they can make some adjustments, but I doubt that they can make it disappear completely.

If it occurs at times other than the initial exchange, I see no explanation in your Voip results, which are exemplary. However, you did say "sometimes". A Voip test run right after an incident might be informative.

Jim, your problem is different. You have high packet discards on your uplink. Try plugging your computer directly into your modem and repeating the test. If it doesn't get better, then you have an issue to discuss with your ISP.

Actually, it's apt to happen at any time during a conversation: early, mid and/or late. The same effect might be caused by a loose mike connection since there is never even any hint of a dropout in what I hear. It's only in what the person I'm talking with is hearing — or NOT hearing in this case. Sometimes the dropout lasts only a second or two. Other times, it lasts long enough that the person I'm talking with thinks we're disconnected and hangs up.

If there's not some solution, I'll have no choice but to leave Vonage. Sad

Understandable. If the savings are enough, you might want to give Customer Service a shot at it, or even try replacing the PAP2. It's certainly frustrating that you have such good Voip results and still aren't getting good service.

I've been having this intermediate drop also, will be talking to someone then silence for a few seconds happens several times during a conversation.

Mine started one week ago. Was thinking it was a bug that will pass.

Hasn't stopped yet on its own. Guess a call to CS is inevitable..

I had the same problem a few months ago. It is a latency problem, but it was with my home network router, not the Vonage router, it's the router I use for the rest of my home network. I replaced the router with new Linksys wireless and the problem went away.
