Hello. I signed up a few days ago and had a few last minute questions before it gets here so I can use the service as quickly as possible.
I'm going to be unplugging the phone service at the box outside the house. If I'm understanding right (which I think I am) all I have to do is unplug all the wires that are connected. Is this dangerous? I know it's to prevent a shock to the Moto unit, but is it possible I could get electricuted while doing it? After doing it, is there any chance that voltage is somehow still being carried through the phone wires? I dont want to spend the money on a voltage tester if there's no way it's neccesary.
Thanks a lot. |

Once you disconnect from the telco interface, there should be no voltage on your house phone wiring. I had 3 pairs attached to the telco interface. When I disconnected them from Verizon's interface, I just tied all the greens together & all the reds together with wire nuts. Then I plugged the ATA into one of my phone jacks, all phones in the house have Vonage dial tone now. |

Use insulated tools when working around the telco interface. There will be AC voltage there (40-90?), but far less current than your electrical outlets carry. |
