It has now been two years since this topic was first posted. Does anyone have any idea when Idaho will get Vonage?
Can anyone shed some light on what is taking so long? Is it an access thing? Is it a legal thing? Can I write my congressman? What's going on? |

its prob one of two things
1. There isnt enough potential customers to justify adding an area code. Im not making fun or anything here, but isnt idaho a lot like nebraska? If it is (and im not saying it is, im just asking) then a lot of people prob dont have high speed internet, therefor, vonage cant justify spending all that money on makeing arrangments when they arnt gonna get a whole lotta customers.
2. They could also be having troubles with the phone service that has the monopoly in idaho- who would wanna let vonage in?
If you really want vonage, I would just get a area code somewhere else, like in the next state or something. Other than that, there really isnt much you can do. |

Yes it's infuriating but that's how it goes! I signed up with Vonage in Bend, Oregon using a San Diego phone number and hung on. After a year it finally happened and the 504 area code was acquired. I ported over my Quest number and closed the door on them immediately. I would advise:
1. Choose the $15.00 plan and select an area code that has the most folk you know.
2. Do obtain the toll free number! Best bargain around!
3. Good things happen to them that waits!
Good Luck! |

So here goes, I've been wanting Vonage for 2 years in Boise, ID. Currently the only reason I've not signed up with a competitor is I want a virtual number for friends and family in the UK.
Much to my suprise, there is a small little town (where I originate from) in the northwest of England that would be a little hick town in American terms that not only has Vonage, but has it's own area code......
Yet the capital city of Idaho that has, Qwest DSL, Cableone broadband (currently posting this message from a 4meg line), available across the city doesn't have it's area code available......
Boise has been given the following accolades (see list below) over the last 10 years, but isn't as of yet deemed worthy by the folks at Vonage for service.

Where does this leave me? Stuck in limbo choosing between other service providers that do have the 208 area code and screwing my friends and family in England, or going with vonage and screwing my local friends and family.....
It wouldn't be so bad if they'd just say - it'll be 6 months or it's not happening.............. |
