PostPosted: Fri May 05, 2006 2:54 pm    Post subject: Getting Vonage Router To Work With TeamSpeak Reply with quote Back to top

Hello everyone, first of all i am not sure that this is the right forum to do this in, but i might as well give it a shot.

my probelm is this, i have 2 computers connected to the Motorola VT 2442 given to me by Vonage ofcourse. i am on computer #1. Computer #2 is hosting a Teamspeak Server.. it shows the ip and i try connecteing to it on Computer 1. and i get error.. no server present. however i can connect using the network ip however. no one else can connect to it. "meaning people that are NOT in my network". i heard i had to do some port forwarding but i'm really not sure on what and how i need to do it. or even if that's how i can resolve the issue.

so please! if anyone here knows how to get this probelm resolved please let me know. thanks everyone Smile

do port forwarding.
I'm not familiar with the vt2442, but you should be able to log into it and set up port forwarding. the teamspeak site has the ports it needs listed I'm sure.

You need to forward UDP port 8767 (if you're using the default TeamSpeak UDP port - otherwise forward whichever port you are using) to the computer that is running as the TeamSpeak server.

Click the "Custom Port Forwarding" link and I'll bet there's a place where you can tell it which port (UDP 8767) to forward and what IP to forward it to.

Hey, no problem...we're here to help. I'll do my best and maybe someone else can fill in the blanks or correct my mistakes.

Application: TeamSpeak (or whatever you want to call it)
Protocol: UDP
Source IP Address: *
Source Netmask: *
Destination IP Address: IP of your PC running TeamSpeak server (this should be a static IP so you don't have to worry about it changing)
Destination Netmask: you can probably leave this at the default
Destination Port Start: 8767
Destination Port End: 8767
Destination Port Map: I have no clue

Remember, 8767 is the default port. If you've changed that in your TeamSpeak server setup you'll need to set it appropriately in that forwarding screen (I suspect you haven't changed it). The asterisk in Source IP/Netmask should allow all source IPs to pass through, but if it doesn't work you might hit that "HELP" link on the screen and see if there's any more info.

That should get your TeamSpeak up and running for external connections.

I don't know what else you can try, I would have thought that would work. I'm not sure if the asterisks in those two fields are correct as I don't have the device you're trying to configure. I have TeamSpeak servers running on 3 different ports on one of my PCs and the port forwarding I have set up works fine, so it's something with the configuration of that device. Maybe check the help and see if they have any clues as to what might be wrong. Or see if you can check the settings for one of the preconfigured applications they have in that first screen shot you posted. If you can see how they're doing it you may have a better idea of what you need to change to make your custom port forwarding work.
