You seem to be very objective ...
-Vonage does not send out spam. --How do you know that ? Ohh you did not receive any spam from Vonage right,,,hmmmm
-Anyone who has their own domain can make an e-mail address of vonage@<insert domain name here>. Thank you for the info but I think we all know that..You are missing some points...
-Mesa Media is the one spamming you, NOT Vonage. --> Mesa Media must be a voluteer marketing agency..
- Vonage has absolutely nothing to do with it.--> being ver objective again...
Thanks for your help..

Just because the e-mail is trying to get you to sign up for Vonage service doesn't mean it came from Vonage, that Vonage endorses the company that's sending the e-mails, or that Vonage has sold your e-mail address. Anyone who has their own domain can make an e-mail address of vonage@<insert domain name here>. That doesn't mean that Vonage approved it or even knows about it. I have my own domain and I have a Vonage@ account setup. The only thing I use it for is e-mails to and from Vonage. I don't spam anyone with it, and I've never e-mailed anyone from that account except for Vonage. I think Vonage has better things to do and more things to worry about than trying to go after/sue one company that's sending out spam e-mails that are trying to get people to sign up for Vonage. If Microsoft or the drug companies went after every single spammer that sends out e-mails about their products they'd never get anything else done. Mesa Media is the one spamming you, NOT Vonage. Vonage has absolutely nothing to do with it...and I VERY seriously doubt that Mesa Media got your e-mail address from Vonage. They probably got it from the same place that all the other spammers got your address from. |

About as objective as you are being in insisting that it must be Vonage hiring MesaMedia to send out these mailings. Do you have any proof besides "oh it has to be"? You keep calling others out on this, how about you provide some proof that it is Vonage who is responsible?
| Quote: | | Furthermore The links do not finally end up on MS's website or a real distributors website unlike Vonage..... |
It redirects from another site to go to vonage...are you blind?
| Quote: | | Yeah right...You do not have any affiliation with Mesa Media.. |
Now you are accusing me for working for Mesa Media? My god man, you are quick to jump to conclusions.
I'm just convinced your a troll or crazy. |

Got a dumb newbie question.
While I know of the warez sites and fake software. drus, viagra, etc why would someone be spamming Vonage if they aren't getting some kind of kickback from Vonage?
Not saying this is what is going on, but just wondering why someone would spam for no reason. |

:::sigh:::
Someone already hinted at a couple possibilities.
1. Phishinig. Simple. The original complainer could add some light to this discussion by posting the links from the mailing. The real ones, not whatever might appear on a hover.
2. Referrals. The link could include the referral ID, which would give the spammer a break on their own service. Again, the original complainer could do a service by providing the link, which Vonage could use to identify the spammer, and quite possibly take legal action against him/her. As the complainer should clearly understand, such spamming doesn't enhance Vonage's reputation (at least not among the naive), and they have a stake in seeing scams in their name ended.
Personally, I suspect the complainer is a whining shill for a competitor. Why not? It's as sane a theory as the complainer's own recalcitrant refusal to hear reason. And what else could explain a lack of full disclosure of the links in the e-mail? |
