Here is a good blurb on vonage from PCMag with some potential bad news. The full link can be located at:

Killer applications for broadband. A small company called Vonage is taking advantage of the Cisco ATA 186 phone-to-network router. Vonage now offers a high-quality phone service—and provides you with a local number—for a flat monthly fee of $39.95, with unlimited nationwide calls (as well as Canada). You can make calls to London for 5 cents a minute, too.
I have heard what the calls sound like on this system, and they sound generally better than traditional phone calls. You have a regular number, you dial regular numbers, and you use a regular phone. All you need is a high-speed connection on which everthing piggybacks. Then, somewhere along the line, you're dumped into the phone network.
This is the first true broadband killer application. And as usual, instead of the phone companies embracing this so they can get out of the long-distance game and just sell a nice carefree connection, they are going to fight it with lobbyists. So much for progress. |

Cool This looks like good publicity from vonage.
Maybe we should have a 'Vonage in the News' thread - good for sourcing material to convince our non-voip friends to sign up with our favorite telephone alternative |
