I feel better this evening. Late this afternoon I finally got through to someone at a higher level of technical support. This time I was, apparently, understood when I recapped the problem(s). Although he gave me a couple of new things to try (I don't thing they will work), he is sending a new adapter right away.

UPDATE...!!!
Well after calling tonight and getting lucky to having my call routed to "New Jersey" I finally got a hold of a REAL Technician who managed to get my VT2442 up and running after being online with this call for 97 minutes.
First of all I got a credit of $10.00 for my troubles which wasn't too bad I guess. Next he verified that my Mac address was put in correctly and there was no need to change my Model# section in my files from "Linksys" to "Motorola" which was what some other tech told me my wait was.
Lastly, the problem which was causing my box to not work was that it didn't like being behind my home "Linksys Wireless" router. I had to move it in front of the Linksys and reboot it and wait about 17 minutes before it activated itself.
Now after almost 4 days I'm a happy camper but don't excuse the poor support that I was given before tonight.
The tech guy also told me that if I wanted to get a real tech guy who can make all of the changes and troubleshooting to call the 888-250-1799 number and tell that technician to transfer you to the "Tech Support 1st line support in New Jersey".
Hope this helps others who had bad experience as I did..
Case Closed....???? I think.......
