Hi all,
I called customer service and it looks like Vonage can't or won't convert a second phone line to a virtual line. I no longer use most of the minutes on the second phone line, so I was hoping that I could simply turn it into a virtual line to avoid having to tell everyone a new phone number.
So it looks like my options are to keep paying the bill for it or cancel the line altogether. I don't see why they can't simply change a phone number from one type to another.

record a message giving the new number and let it run for a couple months. everyone who calls regularly will get the new number. |

If you change the phone number of that line, you have the option to keep the old number as a virtual number, either perminanty (for a 4.99/month recurring charge) or for free for 7 days (the third option is to not keep the number at all). So you can change the number on that line, keep the old number as a virtual number, and then have the line disconnected. Keep in mind that there may be a line disconnection charge. |

I thought about doing this after I saw it on the Vonage admin interface. I will probably end up doing this, though I don't see why the Vonage technical support could not do this for me. Thanks for the information. |
