I have had the runaround from 20-30 reps between Qwest and Vonage, here is the problem.

I ported two numbers, one went great, the second has been in process for two months, and Qwest says that Vonage(XO communications) has it and Vonage, and XO communications(I called them) said that Qwest has it.

Is there anyone out there that can help?

The number is 801-XXX-XXXX

I have had this canned answer from...Akram, Sujay, Jitender, varun, Anup, and Parveen despite giving them the date, order number, and disconnect number.

In regards to your number transfer request, your transfer is currently
pending the receipt of a firm order confirmation (FOC) date from your
carrier. This is the date the carrier sets aside to complete your
transfer. Once we receive the FOC date you will be notified that your
transfer has been approved. We will submit a status request to the
local carrier to ensure the transfer is continuing unimpeded.

Here is additional information...

Below is a letter from an upper level Qwest rep that has been very helpful, far more then Vonage.


Your telephone number is in XO communications switch (computer). Because it has not been activated by XO, the information from the Sprint website, or any of these competitive service tools (including Qwest’s own) will default to the last active carrier, which was Qwest. If Vonage is using that information to determine eligibility, they need to understand that process.

Our specialists told me (both yesterday, and I double checked this morning with another representative) that Vonage would have to call XO and have the telephone number activated. They are absolutely certain about this each rep I spoke to verified it several times.

Alternatively, I can set up a service order here and go through the process to bring the number back to Qwest. My only concern is that process might create a delay in getting the number going for you. Let me know if you want me to get started on bringing the number to Qwest; I’ll need a signed form or a verbal authorization through a third party verifier and I can get the process started. For as long as you have gone without that number, I’m wondering how much that matters to you at this point.

Here’s the other issue that I see: If Vonage doesn’t have the number working, they need to go through their internal process to find out what is the difficulty and get it resolved, whether that means checking with XO or checking with Qwest…you, as a customer, shouldn’t have to be calling and be bounced around between multiple carriers. ( This is like ordering a meal in a restaurant and them telling you they can’t get the steak and sending you down the street to the butcher, who is referring you off to the feedlot; when you get there, they tell you the meat is at the butchers!) Frankly, you should never have to worry about where your number is; Vonage sent us the information, we released the number, we’ve verified it’s in the XO switch, and Vonage needs to get it up and working for you.

My number finally ported,

Thank you to the Forum, Molly at Qwest, the Vonage tech I spoke to last night that actually apologized for it taking so long and said it was unacceptable and did something, and the other Vonage tech that I called later that day who e-mailed his friend in the Engineering department(I have a feeling that is what actually did it). To the XO reps that put up with me calling even though I wasn't a direct customer.

The LMP Porting saga is now over for me, good luck to the others out there that are still in limbo with their lines disconnected.

Time from LOA to port...March 8th to April 28th. The line was disconnected(bad for business) for over a month waiting for Vonage to pick up the number)
