I'm having two problems with my Vonage.
1) When I call my Vonage # with my cell phone, the caller id # stopped appearing. It worked in the morning the other day, then stoppped working. They finally got me to try calling my virtual number (how was I supposed to know to try that???) and it works on that, so there is some other problem. Any suggestions?
2) Network Availability. I was trying to test this "feature" by disconnecting the ATA. Whenever I call my number, it goes to voicemail. One tech guy said it should be an INSTANT transfer if the ATA does not respond, another guy said 15 minutes, and another said 90 minutes. Which is it, and why the heck is this not DOCUMENTED anywhere on the Vonage site?
3) Password issues -- Whenever I call in, and the tech needs to see my dashboard settings, they ASK FOR MY PASSWORD. They should have access to my dashboard WITHOUT asking for my password. Thats ridiculous! |

hank,
I have spoken to the third tier support and I believe it is one hour before it goes to to your "backup" phone. Vonage plays it conservative in that if the latency or connection is questionable, they prefer to send the calls to voicemail to ensure that the call will at least be answered by voicemail rather that have it not ring on your end.
I have no ID on the caller-ID part though.

I just got my ATA last week and started testing the network availability number just like Hank. I unplugged my ATA from the network and called my number repeatedly for about half an hour. Each time I was fowarded into my voicemail.
Before I saw this thread I had sent an email to Vonage support and they informed me the ATA has to be offline for 92 minutes before the calls are forwarded. That seems a bit extreme being that all my calls will drop into voicemail for over an hour and a half!
Needless to say I emailed customercare@vonage.com requesting an enhancement to this feature. I think 92 minutes is just playing it too conservative!
With all the different time info we're reciving on this I guess I need to just test it out myself!
