I have a WRT54GC with 2 lines. I also have Canadian and British bank accounts. I live in Canada but because Vonage do not offer any bundled international call packages (unlike DolphinTel) my calls to the UK are still relatively costly. However, for the equivalent of CAD$16 (£7.99) I can sign up with Vonage UK and get unlimited UK local and national calls.
So here's the question. Currently I only use one line of my Canadian VoIP box. If I open an account with Vonage UK, do you think it will be possible to register my Canadian VoIP box so that line 2 will be the UK account and line 1 the Canadian account? So, when calling Canada/US I'll use line 1, and when calling the UK I'll use line 2?
Thoughts?
Thank you.
Ian

I highly doubt it. I suspect you'll have to get a separate ATA.
A competing service provides 1,000 minutes to certain overseas countries, including the UK, with the basic service. That might be an option.
Another is to call Vonage, tell them about the competitor, and see what they can do for you. |

Thanks PhotoJim. Vonage UK also offer the base ATA for free so I guess there's nothing stopping me from bringing that to Canada. I have a structured wiring panel for telephone/data/video so it would be quite trivial to connect the line 1 output of this box into my line 2 telephone input of my panel... if I can find the space!!!
As an aside I used to have VoIP by DolphinTel. They have an unbelievable package of CAD$29.95 for unlimited local, national and international calls!!! Problem is that the QOS was so poor that the service was unusable 50% of the time, hence my switch to Vonage which has been faultless. I've already told Vonage about this and suggested I would gladly pay $39.95 for a 500 minutes local/national + 500 minutes international package (I currently pay $19.95 for the 500 mins local/national package) but got the usual polite but non-commital response.
Looks like opening a Vonage UK account for $16 (£7.99) is the way to go as this will effectively give me unlimited calls to the UK... my main international calling destination.
Thanks
Ian
