New install - help with step 1

It's not good when a simple project hangs you up on step 1! I'm getting ready to move to Vonage and went out to look at how the wires come in to the telco box. I could not get the screw loose to open the box. They use some kind of hex screw with a post in the middle so you can't use a regular hex head to open it. Is there a trick to getting these open or do I have to find the tool with the right adapter? Thanks.

It is my understanding that it is usually the side that belongs to the telco that has those kinds of screws. There should be another side, the right side that can be opened with a regular screw driver that belongs to you. Perhaps a picture might help all of us help you.

That's my experience as well. The side you have access to usually has a phone plug that you can unplug to disconnect from the phone company.
