Post subject: need help connecting IP8100 with existing service
30 minutes ago I went to Best Buy and bought an IP8100 due to the reviews and the simplicity. I also have the RT31P2 which is connected now to
Vonage
(for the past 8 months).
My sticking point is how do I swap information over from the Linksys to the Vtech??? I use the Linksys RT31P2 as a router for 2 other computers and I was going to plug the 8100 into the extra port. But I'm not sure if that's going to cause a problem with my
Vonage
account. My thought was to plug in the 8100 into the extra port then unplug my phone from the RT31P2.
Any thoughts? The install instructions are great for a new customer, but not for an existing customer.
Thanks,
Tom

If you are looking to transfer your existing account, you simply need to call Customer Service and give them the MAC address of the new Vtech, and tell them you want your account transferred over to it.
Then, once that transfer is complete, the Vtech should work fine.
What was wrong with the RT31P2?
