Hello!
Location - Reston, VA
Comcast cable
RT300
I'm trying to create a connection for my home. I have a cable modem(Comcast). Wireless router(D-Link D-524) is connected to it. Then I have few computers connected to this router via cable and a laptop wich connects using wireless connection. When I connect vonage router(I believe its RT300, not wireless) to D-link router - works just fine, dial tone is OK.
Now. My cable modem is on the second floor and phone is on the first floor. There is no way I can put a long cable from the second floor to the first. So I can use only wireless connection. I came with the idea of installing wireless access point on the first floor, then set it in Client access mode, then via cable I connect vonage router to it(so it will be connected to the network through this access point). Done. I configured this access point to be the client of my home wireless network(so it acts like a wireless switch now), then connected a PC to it - bam! everything works. PC is assigned with dynamic IP from D-Link router , internet is working, so everything is just fine.
BUT. Big but... When I connect vonage router (instead of a PC) to this access point, Internet light is on, on the wireless router config page I can see that it actually sees the vonage router and assigns IP to it. No dial tone though... Do I have to set a router somehow differently from it's default config? I'm pretty sure I'm missing something which is not very hard to resolve:)
Thank you! |

not sure if I followed everything exactly, but you might want to look into forwarding ports. the phone light does not come on right?

Phone light is OFF. What forwarding ports are you talking about? |

I'll leave the networking discussion to Reebok, but have you considered leaving the Vonage adapter upstairs and using a cordless phone? |
