I am not sure of the broadband providers, but in Vizag, I stayed at The Taj Residency. In Mumbai, I stayed at the JW Marriot. That was definitely the most expensive, because you had to purchase internet in the room either by the hour for like 6 U.S or 20 U.S. per day. If you had the softphone app, you might could get by going to the business lounge as they have free wifi.

Hi All,

I got my Vonage Router RT31P2 from Chicago to Delhi. It was working very well in Chicago where I was having it "Obtain the IP address automatically". In Gurgaon, we have Cable Internet Service @ 256 kbps, but it averages at 110-130 kbps. Now my Router setup is complete, with all Static IP Settings in the router. And my Internet works fine through the router (after I login from my computer using a specific IQARA login application), but my Voip hard phone does not work. I get a dial tone (sometimes) but cannot make a call go through. The phone is set to pulse dialing and I even called my ISP (Iqara) but they are not too willing to help since its not their Voip service and they're saying that our Internet is working, which is all they are providing.

Please help, otherwise I might have to take it back to Chicago and cancel Vonage Sad

Thanks,
Raunaq

Hi,

I am in India now. I got my Vonage phone activated in Dallas and was working great there. Here, in Mumbai, I am using a cable Internet line, and after connecting the linksys Vonage phone adaptor, I got a dial tone.
But when I dial any number, i hear one ring and then it stops.

Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? Is it my ISP?
If someone has been successful in using the Vonage service in india please tell me...

Thanks,

Ravneet

Has anyone tried to setup the Vonage RT31P2 phone adapter in India with a Sify broadband account? If this works, can you please provide any guidance on the settings? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if it will work with cable internet b'se it comes as a distributed line from the provider right & also possibility of Voip ports being blocked. It works fine with Airtel & BSNL braodband though.....

Hi all who are worried about getting Vonage working in India!

Please call the Vonage 1-732-650-6699 no. and get your port settings changed. Most likely your ISP has blocked the Voip ports. I think Vonage guys are willing to help you change the port settings. They also have to change the port settings in their server. So once you are up with it - do let all of us know -

I think it should work

In case you have problems calling from India, get some of your friends or relatives call the Vonage no. But do get it sorted out - that's a great feature of this phone!

I am looking forward to replies from private cable co. operators like the IQARA and Sify customers who were having problems connecting! Let's see if someone can sort out this problem in the next couple of days

Anyway, don't forget to post your experience.

All the best Very Happy

I am trying to set up Vonage using Linksys Router RT31P2 (that Vonage provided). I also currently have a cable internet connection @ 64kbps from Powersurfer.net (Relian Infocomm co) in Mumbai. I have checked and my cable provider has not blocked my Voip port.

I have connected all the wires but am not able to get a dial tone. When I spoke with Vonage Tech support, they informed me that the Vonage Router cannot authenticate 2 things ie IP address AND user name/pwd. In other words, one has to be constant. Hence I need to buy an static IP address.

Any thoughts on the above? Has anyone installed Vonage using cable internet provider Powersurfer.net in Mumbai??Please help. In case you want to chat, please call me in Mumbai at 26336587.
