Post subject: Re: vonage works in India without any issues
Hi Dinglo,
Here is my issue, pls try to help me out on this.
Hi my wife is in India and she has taken our Vonage VOIP adapter there. She is facing lots of problems getting connected. This is the problem that she is facing.
1) We have a Broad band internet connection from Airtel services
2) She has connected the Ethernet port of Cable modem given by touchtel directly (without a router) to the WAN port of the VOIP adapter (Motorola VT1000), the line1 of the VOIP adaper to the telephone and the rest of the power connection also had been established. She has not connected a computer to this circuit as it worked without it in the US.
2a) She then tried the power on sequence.
3) The Power light in the VOIP adapter (Motorola VT1000) first went thro' the blink sequence and started glowing constant.
4) when she picked up the telephone receiver, she was not able to get the dial tone at all. but when I tried to dial the VOIP telephone number from US, am able to hear the ring tone.
Pls let me know what I should be doing to get the things going. I called up customer support, that did not help in any way.

I have 'heard' of people who have successfully connected using vonage in several locations using various providers such as:
Hathway
BSNL
Tata Indicom
Airtel
I have 'heard' of people doing it in Chennai and in Hyderabad.
The key is that it is different for each provider but the logic is common based on the type of the adaptor.
So if any one is having problems, please post the specific adaptor device model and your ISP name, I can help you out.
Regards,
Dingloo

Post subject: Vonage in New Delhi
Hi everyone. I've been reading threads all day looking for some information on Vonage. I will be moving to New Delhi, India in a few weeks and was trying to get an idea of how it would work there. Does anyone know of the ISP, router type, etc that would be good in New Delhi for Vonage? I would love to take advantage of all that it has to offer. Thanks in advance.

I've been using Vonage in India for the last 2+ years with absolutely 0 problems. I've used three different internet service providers in that duration.

Post subject: still don't have dial tone
Hi,
I have the following set up:
BSNL Huawei SmartAX882>PAP2. I have entered the new ip, subnet mask, gateway ip as per "cooldude's" suggestions but I am still not having dial tone or the LED light for PHONE1 on.
This 882 has 1 USB slot which goes to my PC & 1 ethernet slot which goes to the PAP2.
Do I need a router in between? What ip, subnet mask, gateway ip should I use? I tried both for WAN Channel as well as for USB-LAN Channel but still I don't have dial tone.
After I go to
http://192.168.1.1
following comes up in the summary page for the Huawei:

I think you do need a router. I don't believe you can just plug two devices into the modem and have it work. As an experiment, try disconnecting your computer and plugging in just the PAP2. Power cycle everything and see if you get a phone light. This probably won't work if you need a sign-in with your ISP.

Post subject: One way audio using RTP300-VD in Hyderabad(CitiCable)
I am getting only one way audio on the Vonage phone. It is the same whether I initiate the call(from phone connected to Vonage RTP312 or a PSTN phone in US.
I can hear audio from US PSTN phone, but they cannot hear audio from Vonage phone in Secunderabad
My Setup:
CitiCable Broadband in Secunderabad. (I see only a ethernet cable into my parents house, no cable modem at home, presumably it is not a PPPoE)
Ethernet staright cable into RTP312 WAN port
COnfigured ISP provided statis IP address (172.20.25.x) on RTP312 and using 192.168.15.x for laptop, desktop internal network with DHCP on RTP312
Debug so far:
- Vonage speecdcheck says download is 40kbps and upload is ???
- All the forum discussion talked bout DSL and PPPoE.
- testyourvoip.com failed as 5060 is owned by RTP312 and testyourvoip.com cannot reach my PC.(Will remove RTP312 and try again to see if ISP is the issue.)
- Used Vonage bandwidth saver to lower bandwidth requirement, no resolution of the issue
Questions:
- ANyone using CitiCable with Vonage?
- Is the download speed too low?
- Is CitiCable upload speed too low?
Thanks
- V

Hi Anu,
I have a similar problem to yours - the phone led on the PAP2 is not lit.
My set up is also similar: Airtel Broadband - Dlink DSL-502T modem>USB port to PC>Ethernet port to PAP2.
Could you please let me know how you resolved your problem? It might help me deal with mine.
Thanks & Regards,
Shrikanth
