PostPosted: Thu May 20, 2004 1:57 pm    Post subject: Neither forward nor transfer to intrntl phone numbers? HELP Reply with quote Back to top

Hello.
I signed up for Vonage about 10 days ago.
Before I sign up I called them many times and asked the following
question:
"Can I make call forwarding to international pnones ?"
And they answered:
"NO, but you can make a call transfer to intnational phone number."
Yesterday, when I tried to make a call transfer It didn't work.
I opened the user's manual book and I read from there that It is possible to transfer calls to USA and Canada only. Today I called them and I was answered:
"I apologize for whoever told you that it is possible to transfer calls to international number, but it is not possible...If you want I can transfer you to cancelation department".
I am very disappointed now. I am planning to move for 2 months to Armenia, where having 90 kbit/sec internet connection with open SIP and UDP ports will cost me about $2500/month(even more) + taxes(20%). So I must be really idiot to take the Vonage adapter to there and buy that kind of internet just for being able to receive my calls to my US phone number on my armenian phone number. That's why I decided to somehow make a call forward and put box in US and I agree to pay international rates form US to Armenia (obviously it's much more cheap than to have high speed internet over there). And I even asked my brother to manually transfer calls to Armenia whenever he receives call to that phone number and he agreed.
But, it came out that 'the weak part' is Vonage in this circle.
And I am very disappointed in their costomer support and sales dep.
Every department tells totally different things. Once even I was told that I can forward calls to international phone number. I called tech support to chek it out, and they apologized again.... Now ...guys I really need it (receive calls to my US phone number to my armenian phone number, if it is possible to do automatically that would be really great, but manually is OK too, since my brother agreed to transfer it manually) very much..VERY VERY MUCH....and I need it fast as I plan to move in 10 days.
Can anyone suggest me maybe any other Voip company which provides this kind of service ? I will really APPRECIATE if you can help me....
Or maybe this is a kind of feature that they can enable and I can use it ?
HELP. HELP. HELP.

Thanks forward to you guys.

I have been able to transfer my line to a St. Kitts with no problem. When I go visit my girlfriend down there that's what I do. Of I want to call her on my cell phone. I forward my Vonage line to her then call my line and it goes down. Then, I can remove it.

To sum it up. You should be able to. I'd give it a shot set it to forward with a complete international codes. Set it then try it.

Thanks you travelclarkie very much for your reply.
As I told I spent 2 hours of testing it and spend about
30 min of international minutes trying to figure it out but it
did not work.
First of all I want to ask, is there any way to set up a call forward
besides website ? Because on the web account you are allowed to worward your calls only to 10 or 11 digit phone number (codes for particularly City Yerevan, Armenia is 374 + 1 and plus 011 prefix and 6 digit phone number postfix e.g. 421818 so it comes out 011-374-1-421818...13 digits). I think you did it because you forwarded it to your cell phone number which is US phone number not international. But maybe there is another way of setting up call forwarding through codes using telephone. I tried both code for call trnasfer(#90 and #91) neither one works. And in general, do is there any list of codes that Vonage supports
through telephone (besides the codes that are described in the book wich come with Vonage) ?

Thank you again for your reply.
Looking forward to have more replies Smile

It is an international number I'm just lucky that are part of the same number authority as the US and according to Vonage they still hold true their "policy" on international transfers.

Unfortunately the only way to control a lot of the lines features is from the Dashboard on line. I wish some more like call transfers could be done from the phone as well.

I wish I could say something more promising.

You can do call transfer from the phone. You cannot, however, from the website.
