you've waited the 10-14 days.

My install went fine. In 9 days, all calls were going through Vonage.
In 10 days, the dial tone dropped from the ATT copper line.

Original carrier = AT&T for local, local toll and long distance.

First number (my office):

Nervous wringing of the hands whilst waiting....

April 9, 2006 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
April 9, 2006 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
April 9, 2006 Transfer Sent to Carrier
April 20, 2006 Carrier Approved Transfer
April 20, 2006 Completed LNP Transfer

Seamless transfer of office line provoked me to jump in with both feet, so I switched the home line....

April 20, 2006 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
April 21, 2006 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
April 21, 2006 Transfer Sent to Carrier
May 2, 2006 Carrier Approved Transfer
May 2, 2006 Completed LNP Transfer

As of this afternoon, NO calls are going to the ATT line. I expect that their dial tone will cease by tomorrow AM, just as before.

Because of the reports on this forum, I decided to add a little insurance to the process by calling ATT customer service and have it recorded into my customer record that I authorized the switch and to NOT HOLD IT UP.

I called back again a day later to see if my comments were easily accessed by the new CS rep. They saw it and confirmed my wishes.

Several days later, everything went through automatically.

By the way, ATT is now SBC.

I think the way that deal worked out is, SBC is now AT&T. But hey; does it matter much to you or I?

Well, I have one more update.

Though my Vonage phone service is great - great voice quality, no compromise of bandwidth, great low cost, some people who call me get a service disconnect message saying "this number is no longer in service." Most get through, but certain people never can.

My number is printed on my business cards (home office) and is published in advertising media and on my company's web site, but some people will think I got fired or the company is gone.

I have no idea what to do - AT&T "cancelled" my service after I complained about getting billed when Vonage reported a complete LNP transfer. Apparently intra-latta calls were still getting billed through AT&T.

What's next? Who do I call to get the switch to work for all incoming calls?
