had Vonage working fine AFTER AN ADVANCE INSTALL. ONE DAY THE Vonage BOX LIGHT STOPPED GLOWING STEADY GREEN AND STARTED FLASHING = NO DIAL TONE. And we had no internet tho dsl modem was working fine. . We . tried to reboot per instruction manual. didn't work, the Phone box still flashed in the 4x occulting pattern but we got no phone dial tone. What's more, hooking in the Vonage destroyed the copmputer's internet access. Checked computer, the TCP/IP connection had been detroyed. So I redid TCP/IP - could only get Internet if Vonage was not in the system between DSL modem and Computer ( ie computer had to by pass Vonage 1000 to go striaght from its WAN port to the WAN of the DSL to DSL modem to work properly. SO.. now I can't get the VT 1000 data on the Vonage box , as I can't both connect to internet and to the Vonage Vonage box. How can I get the advanced installation - http ://192.168.102.1 settings without being both on the internet and conencted to the Vonage box ? as I can't both be on the Internet AND be connected to the Vonage box...since Vonage is ddestroying my internet connection protocol. NOte the computer is set for a LAN /auto DHCP and works fine UNTIL the Vonage box enters the system, then the Vonage crashes ALL inter net connectivity by DESTROYING the previously-functional network settings for TCP/IP -- We have now had no long distance phone service since 5-15, Vonage gave us a curt and useless reply of 'connect computer with dynamic IP addressing, and go to http://192.168.102.1... if i could do that I would not be writing this message. the issue is -- why does putting the Vonage in destroy the internet TCP protocol in the computer? and isn't there some other way to specify the V1000 setting without being connected to both the internet and the Vonage box simulsimultaneously? I certianly hope someone has some ideas on this as it is a mighty expensive proporition a t this point. |

I have the same problem, which started this morning. I have been running Vonage successfully on a DSL LAN for about two weeks. Today, I have isolated the issue to this - when the Vonage box is connected to the router, it apparently "eats" available IP addresses so that one of my two PCs no longer can obtain one.
If I do an ipconfig /renew, I get the following error:
An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection: the DHCP client has obtained an address that is already in use on the network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new address.
Now, the thing is this - I disconnected the Vonage box from the network, and was able to get IP addresses for both of my PCs. Now that I have plugged the Vonage box back into the network, it is blinking four times (trying to obtain an IP address) and will not turn solid. |

Well, I posted the same message that I left here into an email to Vonage customer service. After confirming that my router was able to dole out 48 different IPs, Vonage told me to shut everything down, then boot up the DSL modem, the router, the Vonage box, and then the PCs, in that order and waiting a full minute between each powerup.
I did that and now everything is working fine. Prior to doing that, I had been power-cycling the router and sometimes the modem, but not everything and in the order that they told me to.
