Im the systems & network admin at a medium sized business. We have around 50 employees, and 3 phone lines. I've had my share of probs at home with vonage, that arnt acceptable for the office. Does anyone know if their business accounts are beefed up at all? Or if I want quality should I look into something like covad?
Let me know!!!

I suspect that the performance limitations are more a function of the internet service that you have than the service that Vonage provides, so a lot would depend on the comparison between your internet services at home and at the office. From a technical viewpoint, I don't think Vonage does anything with business accounts that is different from home accounts. Customer service is another matter, and I have no insight into that. |

If your "bread & butter" comes from being on the phone, I don't know that I would risk completely going to VoIP. Maybe have 2 VoIP lines and one POTS line for a backup just in case. |

50 people and 3 phone lines? Fair to say your firm isn't spending much on phone service now? |

The way I would look at it as someone else mentioned above, is to consider how reliable is the Internet service at your office.
I've moved around some and the problems I have had with Vonage (for the most part) are usually when I have poor high-speed internet service. When my internet connection is fine my Vonage is usually fine.
If you are using basic home Internet like service at the office I would have to think twice before switching over, but if it is fairly robust service I would be less concerned about it.
You will also want to make sure that you do have enough upstream to handle the calls plus your normal internet access. I have been in small offices in the past where the internet service is slower than what I get at home from the local cable company. |
