I live in a 902 area code. (Nova Scotia)
Last night and this morning I called a 819 area code number (Quebec) and the call was very choppy.
However, my wife called her mom who lives in the Yukon, a 867 area code (right across Canada) and the call was very clear without any echo or delay.
I reported this to Vonage, hopefully this is not permanent.
Any one else having issues like this. |

Is this only one call, or did you hang-up and retry with the same results? |

Hi
I hung up at least 3 or 4 times that night then I tried again.
The next day, I tried again with the same results. |

Im not sure what kind of a network connection you are on. If you are on a Cable connection this may be the root of the problem.
Time of day may become a factor if you are on a Cable connection - more users = more traffic.
Otherwize. have you tried downing the voice quality settings. Also was there possibly other network activity going on inside your home on the internet while you made the choppy calls.
I have experienced this delay before, I am on a Rogers Cable connection here in Toronto. I know that the delay is caused by the traffic on the network. ESP. in the middle of the afternoon. I also notice my internet speeds decreasing at this point too.
But if you have any doubts about it... take the ping challenge right after you experience this choppyness |

I am on a Cable connection (10 Megs down/1 Meg Up).
Test Voip results 4.4 Montreal and 4.3 Boston Test on the Vonage Forum speed test page is 7.68 down/945 up.
Also this would not explain how a call from Nova Scotia going to Quebec would be bad, yet a call to the Yukon within 5 minutes of each other was clear as a bell.
I could believe the time of the day, but I called the same number this morning at around 9 Eastern time and it was the same exact problem.
I expecting it is the way the call is being routed through. I was curious to find out if other people have experienced this before. |
