I had a problem with my Nurit on Vonage a couple of days ago and my credit card people said it was incompatible with high speed lines.
When I asked some friends with an older machine how they uploaded their batches, they said they used Vonage and it worked fine.
When I went to their house and tried it, it worked.
The fun part was that when I tried it I was on the cell phone with my credit card support person who had told me earlier that the Nurit machine does not work with Vonage. He was monitoring my upload while I was transmitting it. I then told him I had just uploaded the data on a friend's Vonage connection. He still said that it was not possible and he had no idea why the data had come through. It shouldn't have.
I hope somebody reading all this will be able to come up with an explanation why the machines work on some Vonage connections and not others. By the way, the line I used also had call waiting, which had been mentioned as a possible problem. |

Call waiting is not usually the issue with credit card machines as the only time it causes an issue is when someone beeps in while you are trying to upload. Your friend may have better service internet than you do.
1. Make sure your bandwidth is set to HIGH 2. Plug the cc machine direct to your Vonage device 3. Do a speed test to check bandwidth - make sure you have enough upload - HIGH takes 90, so if you use the computer or other things on the internet at the same time should really be over 200. 4. Do a ping test to check for packet loss and latency - Click start, click run, type cmd in the box, hit ok. On the black screen type in
ping yahoo.com -n 50
When the test is complete you should have packets sent = 50, received = 50. Two lines below that you will see minimum, maximum, and average. Min/Max should ideally be within 25 of each other and both should be under 100.
Let me know what your results were for your test.

When I had successfully uploaded my batch report through my friends' Vonage line, I asked them if they had call waiting. They said yes. We then tested to make sure it was on. She made a call and I called her with my cell phone while she was on the line. She hit the flash button and was able to take my call.
This shows that the Nurit can work with Vonage WITH call forwarding.
I know that there are some issues that cause compatability problems with Vonage with credit card machines that vary from line to line, but my problem is with the tech support people who have told me that there is no compatiblilty under any circumstances, period. |
