I see the other thread involving comcast and vonage but it is too much for me to read so I was hoping some people could update me on this.
I'm switching from Wide Open West to Comcast. My phone works fine right now on wide open west and I'm wondering if it will work fine on comcast? I heard rumors before that Comcast blocks vonage but I haven't been updated on the issue. And if it works is the quality decent?
I live near Detroit, Michigan if anyone has experience in that area.
Thanks |

dale5605, I'm using Vonage & Comcast here in southwest Pa. and have not had any trouble yet. We can use 2 computers and the phone at the same time without any trouble |

We have Comcast and Vonage...it was great for the first few weeks, but in the last few weeks, the quality has REALLY declined. Tests show HUGE packet loss. If I can't figure this out, we may have to go back to the evil Verizon.....it's that bad. When I run tests on testmyvoip.com, it comes up with a "worse than tin cans and string" reading most o f the time. |

I have had Vonage and Comcast in both Bellevue, WA (Seattle area) and here in Tucson. In both cases, the quality was good and I had no read issues - well we won't go into the number handoff here.
I would not worry about it.

I've had Comcast for years. Started using Vonage here in Cleveland, OH in October 2004. No problems so far!! |

I've actually been having humongous packet loss with my isp as well. It has been better the past few days though. The incredible packet loss and their refusal to do anything to really fix the problem is what spurred me to switch providers. I have wide open west currently and am switching to comcast hoping for a more reliable network.
But either way packet loss in general on the connection doesn't display any problem between the isp and vonage. |
