Question from a newbie

Just got my Cisco 186 today. Worked great as soon as I plugged it in. Called Calif. (from SC) and the call was great. Called my sister nearby and she was shocked when I told her it was an internet call. I'm amazed at how good the quality is, even set at the lowest quality setting.

OK. Here's my questions:

1. Will my router's firewall affect incoming calls at all? Do I need to set the Cisco 186 in the "DMZ" zone without firewall protection?

2. The second phone port in the back of the Cisco is not used by Vonage, right? If not, does anyone know why not? Seems like a waste of a possible source of revenue for them. I'd buy a second phone line with a different virtual number if they offered it.

Preston:

1. No need to put the Cisco ATA-186 out on the DMZ, It should work fine.

2. Second line on the Vonage service will be supported very soon.

Let's see, Dan said that the second line would be available "very soon", but not "VERY SOON." If I remember the code correctly, "VERY SOON" means in the next day or two, whereas "very soon" only means sometime in the next week or two, right? Very Happy
