As I read a comment about another user porting from SBC in SE michigan taking only 7 or 8 days... I got very anxious.
I ordered my Vonage phone adapter by phone on Monday. I filled out the porting paperwork the same day. I was really worried that the adapter would not arrive before the porting took place.
Their website said it will take 10 to 14 days for the adapter to arrive!
I got anxious, and bought an adapter from Circuit city, just in case... Their tech support said that is all I can do, as phone forwarding can not be configured for an account not yet activated by the adapter.
Fortunately, they shipped from OH on Tuesday. The adapted arrived on Friday. I received confirmation that the number porting has been approved by SBC on Friday.
I plugged in the adapter on Friday and got a dial tone. I set the phone number to transfer to my other business line which is a land line.
On Monday, they said that porting should be done within 24 hours.
By Tuesday morning.... All of my calls arrived on the Vonage line!!!
Do not request them to port your phone number until you received the adapter.... As I run a business with one main number.... I would have been in deep ....it if the adapter had not arrived on time.
Pleas keep in this mind when you deal with SBC in SE michigan... Porting can be extremely rapid (less than 6 business day) from the time you fill out your paperwork....
