I have had Vonage for about 5 months now. Everything works great. However, I have received about 5 or 6 phone calls during that time where the caller id only shows "1-3721" and there is no one on the line if I answer. I looked at my calls in my account and it does show the call coming from 13721. Anyone have any idea what this is ????

OK, I figured it out, they left a message this time. It is just the last few numbers from there number. ###-##1-3721. don't know why they are the only ones this happens too.

Does the full number show up on the call activity page of the Vonage website? If it does then either your phone adapter or phone is dropping the other digits. I used to have a cordless phone that would do this because of interference with my WiFi.

If the number that you see on Caller ID is the same on the website then the problem is what Vonage is receiving for Caller ID info.

What mharvey said is correct. If you know this person, have them call another person on a landline to verify their carrier is forwarding the number correctly. If the number does not show up right in the call log in your web account, then Vonage's gateways are not receiving the caller id info correctly from the carrier.

It is incorrect on the phone and on the account website. It is a Dr.'s office, not one of my friends, So I am not concerned about getting it fixed for them. Thanks.

Not sure where you're located, but I've noticed since the hurricane, a few places in town with large phone systems (hospitals, sports arenas, etc) seem to have incorrect caller ID as well. The one shows up as 1-239, which would be the 1 + area code, but nothing after that. These show up this way on both my cell & Vonage, so it's definitely on the carrier's end or maybe even the phone system depending on how the lines are configured.

This looks like the case of an incorrectly administered PBX sending out Caller ID on an ISDN line. In many cases, these are set up to send out the calling extension's full number instead of the main number and if it is set up wrong, it just sends junk. There are also cases where these have been set up to send "someone else's number" in caller ID - not clear if by accident or on purpose. Yours looks like an accident.

It could also be one of those downloadable SIP clients for making free VoIP calls. A friend and I tried it out, and when he called me, it would only show a few digits like 001-416 .
