Looks like Vonage is having server problems which prevent incoming calls. I got this info frm Cust Svc @ 12:30 EDST and was told it would be at least another 30 to 60 minutes until they could have it resolved. Supposedly they are rebuilding a server. Incoming callers receive and invalid number or number not in service message from their carrier. Outgoing calls are unaffected. This problem has been ongoing for several hours now and supposedly affects a large number of subscribers. My area code is 859 at exchange 342.
Customer service is swamped. First call resulted in a message stating no one was available to take my call and then disconnect. Second attempt got a live body after 20 minutes of hold time.
BTW - Since this is NOT a network outage, calls are NOT forwarded to your network unavailable number. Instead callers receive a message from their carrier that the dialed number is invalid or not in service. |

Called them about 9CST for the 918 area code, 627 exchange. I can call out and receive calls from other Vonage lines, but can't receive incoming calls from non-vonage lines(cell and swbell), After explaining my problem over and over again to the same lady who didn't understand a whole lot of english, I was put on hold and eventually told it'd be an hour or two and if it didn't work after that to call back.
its now 1:30CST. Just finishing sitting on hold for 25 minutes on the Vonage support line before giving up.
Can't believe they haven't put up any service annoucements. |

I'm getting the same problem on my 405 number, and on my sister's 918 number. How do you determine your exchange number?
BTW, NXtwothou, is your username in reference to the nomachine nx terminal server? |

Actually, its NX-2000, due to being a Star Trek nut when I first got into BBS's which just happened to be around the time that Star Trek III came out and NX-2000 is the contract code for Excelsior. Eventually hit sites that didn't allow dashes so it got changed to NXTwoThou.
My phone number is 918-627-xxxx, so that's how I came up with the 627 exchange, not that it really matters since it seems to be hitting whole areacodes. |

Hmm, I kinda feel dumb now. Oh, well, I guess you learn something new everyday. |

I have the same problem with 4 seperate accounts in the 405 area code. (Our business has several remote users with Vonage accounts). We have had the problem since 8:00am and I was also told it would be back up in 30-60 minutes. It's now 2:45 - I can't believe Vonage has not posted any kind of service notice on this!

This is a strike against Vonage. But I'd rather suffer through a partial outage with Vonage then deal with SBC/AT&T.
I'm betting this could have been avoided if some IT guy hadn't decided to recompile the Vonage kernel before putting up a backup server. Of course, I'm speculating here, but that's what it looks like has happened.
Big mistake! |

I have area code 508 and my service is out - callers get a "This number has been disconnected" message, but a friend who is also area code 508 is working fine. Been on hold with Vonage support for 30 minutes and counting. I've had Vonage for 1 month with a bunch of call dropping problems already. Got those resolved but I think this might be the breaking point for my wife. I'm going to hear this whenever I try to convince her of something for the rest of my life, "Oh, that's a good idea mr. smarty pants! Just like that time you thought we could save money by switching to Vonage!"
Thanks Vonage!!!

A quick question - has everyone who is having this problem ported their number to the Vonage system? |
