Post subject: No phone, no internet
I have a new account, never used this before so it's my first install.
I have a cable modem (ethernet) to the computer. I put the motorolla box between the puter and router, followed the install instructions. The cable modem blinks and has activity light like the moto box is running (with pc off). The lights on the back of the motto box (ethernet) are active. The light on top of the motto box blinks, but does not go solid. I left the motto box sit there for over 30 minutes to let it update.
1. I can't get the phone to work, just static, no dial tone.
2. No internet connection.
3. Cant ping out from the computer to anything.
4. Cant get the IP address on the motto box.
I would assume this is a dead motto box, but there is one thing. For my internet I need to log in to the server to get access.
The motto box flashes a sequence, looks like a pattern. I'll try to write down the pattern. It never goes to a solid light though.
I'm getting a router, but I believe the motto box is dead.
Any thoughts, suggestions, would be appreciated.

Is your computer obtaining its IP address automatically (using DHCP)? If not, let it, and see if you can then log into the moto box. Also, reboot your cable modem to see if that helps. I had to reboot my modem to get my moto box to see outside when I tried it that way. I now have the moto box sitting behind my router, on one of the switched ports, just like the computers in the house.

Hi,
As somebody else suggested, call
Vonage
help desk. I had to return my MTA two times before I got it to work. The MTA would just keep blinking. It was blinking twice, which meant trying to get IP. Also, ask them to give you a prepaid return postage. If you don't ask, you don't get it. No need to pay out of your pocket to return a faulty MTA back to
Vonage
.

When I first set up my MTA I had the same prob. I have a similar setup as yours. What I had to do was change the MAC address of the Moto Box (Just as MOTO said, LOL). Anyways, if you do not know how to do that ask and I, or someone on this forum, will try to walk you through it. Hope that helps.
