Here is my existing setup: Wireless connection to internet and wireless connections to three computers in my house from a NetGear MR812 v2 router.
I received the Linksys RTP300 phone adapter/router from Vonage. This is the device to which i connect my phone line.
I have faithfully followed the installation instructions (although they seem to be skimpy with references to wirelss internet) to connect these devices.
PROBLEM: I get no dial tone on my phone. I do get a voice telling me to try the other phone port. This does not dremedy the sistuation. I have checked all connections multiple times.
I am at my wits end. I have no phone service.
I get the message "The page cannot be displayed." when I try to access the web-based utility for the Linksys RTP 300.
HELP! Someone? I have conversed with Vonage support (via e-mail because I have no phone service--and, no, I do not have cell phone service) for the last 18 hours with no success. They seem to have stopped responding. |

I assume that you've connected the WAN port on the RTP300 to a LAN port on the MR812. Is that correct? If you haven't tried cycling power on the RTP300 you should do that, though I'm sure that technical support told you that.
Is the MR812 set up as a DHCP server? If not, you'll need to set up a static address on the RTP300. To access its page, you have to plug a computer into one of its LAN ports. Having done that, you can then set it up for remote administration and access it from the computers that connect to the wireless router. I wouldn't bother unless you plan to play with the RTP300 settings frequently.
You'll do better with requests like this if you post them in the Voip forum, where the networking people focus their attention. You've posted in the house wiring forum. |
