Ok last cry for help. I have a Linksys Phone adapter, cable modem, and a linksys wireless router. Can I just run a phone line to Tivo? Or what would the best solution besides taking Vonage and throwing it out? Please understand that I need help in the simplest of ways. I would appreciate anyone that can help me make this work.

Wrong. I did this and it did not work. I have a stand alone tivo too.

Ok. I went to a friends house and updated my TIVO. I changed my calling area to NewYork Area code and changed my prefix to ",#401". Instead of using a wireless network i ran a phone line from My Vonage adatper (line1) to my Tivo> I got a message on Tivo saying that it had to restart at 2 am before it could make another call? Should I have left this over my friends house plug into her phone line? Or will I wake up to all the information I downloaded?

The 2am thing is that new software was downloaded into your machine and it was pending a restart. No biggie, but you can restart it yourself under one of the Tivo menu options under setup (near the bottom). Can't remember what it says exactly - from memory here.

JUst wanted to let you know that I will be going back to POTS. I was puton hold at Vonage for 20 mins yesterday trying to get some help. After all the hours I have wasted trying to get this to work nothing and no one has truly helped me. You guys can call me when you work out all of the kinks NOT.

You just waited 20 mins? That's nothing dude. I've waitied on hold for 45 mins one time. My all time record for hang ups is 6 times in one night. I now have found out that I have to connect my tivo by ethernet cable after not having it work for the past 3 months.To add insult to injury, yesterday when I tried to log on to my computer, the Vonage router was blocking my internet signal. I had to reset my Vonage router. Then, my voicemail crapped out. No one could figure out how to fix it and one "support" person told me that I was lucky to have 3 different ways to check my voicemail. "Dude, 2 of those ways don't even work!" I told him. "But you still have 3 ways! That's convienience! It's just not working right now." Does that statement make sense to anyone else? Didn't think so. So after talking to a couple "Einsteins" at Vonage and calling their executive response team AGAIN (no call back by the way) I got one guy to listen to me after explaining it over and over for 10 mins. He had to switch my phone line to phone 2 to make it work again.

Working out the kinks doesn't even begin to describe what Vonage has to do with this company. My brother was going to sign up and I told him to not bother, it wasn't worth it. He's going w/another service and is going to let me know if it works out for him. I'll jump ship in a heartbeat rather than put up w/this garbage all the time.
