AOL and others offer a Call Alert feature so you know whos calling before you get up and walk all the way over to look at the caller ID box. I would like a pop up to say name and number of whos calling. |

Not sure if it's a Vonage feature. I couldn't find anything about it in the Vonage help files. But here's a link to just one software package that you can download and try for free.

Do you have a modem in your computer?
If so, download ID Commander , hook the phone line up to your modem and you're set. |

I don't have a modem and I don't want to pay. The whole reason I switched to Vonage was all the free stuff the include. I don't want to start getting nickel and dimed again. Any other options out there? |

Rather than have this info pulled from a modem as some suggest, this would be a really useful widget if it pulled data directly from your account dashboard... Info such as last 10 callers (ahem, like an RSS feed), minutes used/remaining, etc, etc. With all that said, I'd expect it would be difficult to get fast callerid info on the screen when your phone rings... Most clients/readers are pull apps, which shouldn't be set to look for new info every 2 seconds. Still, it'd be cool. |
