Ok,
its' happening again and I don't know if it's a Vonage problem or if it will go away when Comcast fixes it's dropped packets, but here's the problem and I've had it before.

When anyone calls into my home, sometimes when we pick up the phone to answer, we hear dead air as does the person calling. Other times, I can answer the phone and the call is very clear.
We have 2 wired phones and a cordless base hooked up into the jack system, and a total of 3 cordless phones. It doens't matter if I get rid of any particular phone. It doesn't matter if someone is using the computer or not. In fact no one is using the computer often when this happens.
Any ideas? Is it a Comcast? Vonage or Phone problem? Is it something else or any combo? Help please!! We hate not knowing if we'll be able to greet our callers! Not to mention how frustrated they get when we don't answer. Calls do NOT go to voicemail. They go nowhere.

Thanks!!

Try running the test call to Boston at www.testyourvoip.com and post the results here. You may want to do this a number of times. See if you can catch it at a time when the phone is working well and again when it's giving problems.

Also please post the other details listed in the sticky post at the top of the forum.

Sorry, semi new around here. What sticky post at the top of this forum?
I'll try checking the Boston thing a few times. Thanks for the suggestions.

At the very top of the Voip forum listing, where you see the latest posts, is a message that is always there with the subject "What to post when having technical trouble with Vonage".

Shummer,

Your packed lossed and discards are just awful. Try plugging your computer directly into your modem and repeating the test. If it doesn't improve dramatically, then you have a serious issue to discuss with your ISP.

This looks pretty good. Since your problem is intermittent, try repeating it a few times.

What kind of router are you using? If it's wireless, and if your cordless phone(s) are 2.4 GHz; interference could explain the problem that you're having.
