It's been over a year and the issues were never worked out. I give credit to Vonage for being tenacious to contually want to keep my account and tell me they can fix the problems. Even though it's been over a year and I've talked to countless staff, had Comcast at my home twice, etc.
One downside is Vonage does not credit you the balance not used for the last montly charge. No prorated credit. I was in fact told that they would do this. Apparently the 'contract' states otherwise. It was difficult to get a word in edgewise with the woman I spoke to while closing my account. I was told, however, that I could keep the equipment (Linksys RPT300) and that I would not be charged for it. Not sure what I'll do with it. If you make it over one year with Vonage they do not charge you the $39.99 closing fee.
I like Vonage's idea but the service has been extremely inconsistent over the past year. I've switched to Comcast Digital Phone and can clearly see a difference already and you have true E911 and the cable modem even has a backup battery built into it (that can be replaced). The features are almost identical to Vonage and they recently added more.
Good luck to Vonage (being sincere) and all it's customers. |

Thanks for all your posts and advice on the forum, and best of luck with Comcast's phone service.
If you truly have no use for the RTP300, I'd love to have a VoIP box to play with and see if I can unlock it, without risking my WRTP54G. On the other hand, if you disable DHCP, the RTP300 can actually serve as a working switch, and it's still a router, as far as it goes. |

I would reimburse postage (obviously) but don't have much of a budget for this "project" beyond that. I already have too many items with blinking lights for the WAF as it is.
Someone with one of the older devices may want to buy it, though, since you can transfer accounts to newer devices as long as the old owner agrees, from what I understand. |

This is messed up. I allowed a small overlap between getting service with Comcast an closing my Vonage account. My girlfriend, who's with Vonage yet, cannot call me. My number was ported over to Comcast. She gets some message about the number is disconnected. What the....
Any ideas on what's going on? My Vonage account was closed yesterday. |

This is probably happening because Vonage did not update their system to tell it that your number is no longer a Vonage number. They updated it to say that the number is disconnected... just not to tell it to route the call outside of Vonage.
That could cause any Vonage caller to the "disconnected" message while other callers could get through. I guess you need to contact Vonage. |

Vonage is attempting to subconsciously tell you that you need to break it off with your girlfriend.
I keed! I keed! |
