Any ideas on what's going on? My

Can other people call you? (was the number ported correctly for the rest of the Universe)?
If so, you are just on the hook for one last call to CS, for old time's sake, as someone else has already mentioned - to get
Vonage
to update their internal routing tables.

Probably. Other calls are coming through fine. The only person I know using
Vonage
is my girlfriend and she told me about the issue so I called
Vonage
. They tell me it will take 24 hours to correct. We'll see.

You just knew you wanted to call CS one last time. Then, if you're lucky, they'll mess up the fix and you'll have the pleasure of talking to Anirbanarajitsuramarkaranian again.

My mother once talked to a Lexmark tech support rep named "Huey".
That is her #1 all time favorite "chosen American-sounding name". Nice guy, extremely helpful and knowledgable, and his accent was very understandable, but every time he talked all she could think of was "where are Dewey and Louie"?
I prefer working with internal resources, as I do. You know the Indian folks are telling you their real names, or at least an abbreviation that the American tongue can wrap itself around without mangling it too horifically. Dunno why, but I prefer to deal with people using their real names. Seems more respectful and honest, somehow.
(online forums being the major exception to that, because people are usually anonymous and that's the expectation).

You guys are just too much!
See ya, SBMongoos! Sorry it didn't work out for you. Post back and let us know how you like Comcast.
I have Comcast Digital Cable and HSI, and they are hitting me with promotional junk mail almost every day now. They are no longer offering a pricing promotion, however. $39.95 comapred to $24.95. That's a significant hit as far as I am concerned. But then again my
Vonage
service has been pretty decent - other than the 911 fiasco.
Where are you that Comcast has E911 and
Vonage
does not? I'm in Southeast PA, just outside of Phila., and I didn't think to ask when Comcast called.
Since I keep a POTS line because
Vonage
doesn't have E911 here Comcast may be a bargain even at ~$40 if they have E911 available. Plus, I have had Comcast since they started in the business, and while their CS is not the best I've seen, it is worlds above what Vonage's CS has become since I signed on two years ago. (Vonage CS was actually pretty decent back in early 2004 - you always got someone in NJ at least!)
How many of the standard
Vonage
features is Comcast missing? While they advertise a lot, they don't really list their features anywhere that I have seen.
You obviously have me curious now.
Anyway, good luck, and I hope that Comcast does an especially good job for you - sounds like you definitely deserve it!

As it turns out I think Comcast may have a lot of the features that
Vonage
does. The tech who installed my phone service this past Friday said they just got voicemail attachments to email two weeks ago. I know that their web access is getting an overhaul as it's down right now. I haven't been able to get access to it yet. The service has been great and I'm told it sounds more like a regular phoneline when talking to people.
The tech also 'assured' me that when calling 911 that the CALL CENTER sees your name address. Again, at the call center. They said that there's works. I got a promo for $29 for the first 6 months and then a bump to $39. Should be worth it though. I'm using their Arris unit for cable modem and phone (with battery backup). Got my internet speeds back. You can use your own cable modem and save $3/month after the 6 month promo is over.
It would have been nice to stay with
Vonage
. I miss their local US support and I could understand them. Comcast has local people that you talk to. So think of how the difference in $$ may be worth it when you really compare apples to apples.

Thank you, SBMongoos.
I can see their site, but as with all their services, they don't list the features very clearly. I don't know why they do that; makes their Comcast.com website pretty useless!
For example, they show "groups" of features, like Privacy Features, Convenience Features, etc. One simple listing of features with a short summary paragraph next to each would help a lot.
It looks like they have no counterpart to Vonage's SimulRing, which is pretty important to me. I would definitely miss that.
I also do not see that there is any type of activity listing, or searchable database of your incoming and outgoing calls. Ouch!
And the lack of Vonage's seven-digit dialing feature, while certaainly not critical, hurts - I love that feature!!
Thanks again, SBMongoos. Good luck!

J-Mac..
You'd want to call Comcast for the features. They've added things that are not on their website. They have a similar login panel with functions like
Vonage
. Just logging in for the first time and checking it out myself.

ha ha... I called
Vonage
days ago about the fact that I had switched phone service and that my phone number was ported over. I explained to them that anyone with
Vonage
that tries to call me is told my number is disconnected. I called into support and discussed this and, once again, was assured that the problem would be fixed in 24 hours.
Well...they still haven't fixed the problem. No suprise there! How ridiculous.
