Hi,

I just signed up for a Vonage account, the guy that took my order said that I could use a Grandstream GXp2000 IP phone with the service. This would be used for multiple lines in the future. After playing around with the settings and several calls to "tech" support I have now been advised that I must use the linksys adapter (which I have not yet received).

Has anyone managed to get an IP phone working with Vonage?

In my situation the phone plugs straight into my network.

Any help would be appreciated.

You could use an IP phone with the optional softphone service (extra cost, limited minutes). Other people have had success by connecting their adapter to a computer running Asterisk (open source PBX) and living with the extra analog/digital conversion.

There were rumors on the main forum that Vonage would be opening up its network to third party devices, but they have died out.

Thanks for the help. I guess its easier to use a DECT phone with the adapter. I am assuming that this can be done ok?

Asterisk is something that I might look at in the future.

I am not up to speed on UK hardware. I was probably stretching a bit beyond my comfort zone to suggest Asterisk, although I believe it should work.

My cursory review of these forums suggests that DECT phones should work with Vonage adapters. The Vonage site claims "any touchtone phone".

DECT phones will work just fine.

Cheers,
